Upgrading to FoodWorks 8 Professional

Before you begin

Make sure you have a back-up copy of your database, or optionally, create one now.

  4. The Create or open database window is displayed.
    - To open an existing database: Click Open and follow the prompts shown.  NOTE: If your database uses Australian data sources, see Update your FoodWorks 8 database (Australia), below.

    - To create a new database: Click Create and follow the prompts shown.

Update your FoodWorks 8 database (Australia)

If you have a database created in an earlier version of FoodWorks which uses Australian data, then the first time this database is opened, FoodWorks 8 gives you the option to update your database to work with the new AusFoods and AusBrands data sources.

You can choose to update your database to use the new data sources or to continue as before:

- To use the new data sources: Click Yes and follow the prompts shown.

Your database settings will automatically be updated with the new data sources for your food selections, and with the new nutrients/components (including food groups).

- To continue using your current database exactly as before (without any changes to the data sources or nutrients/components): Click No.

 NOTES:

  • You should consider carefully whether updating your database to use the new data sources is appropriate. For example, if you are midway through a research study, it might not be appropriate to change your food selections.
  • Changing the data sources (food selections) for your database only changes the list of foods from which you will select for future work in the current database. It does not change the analysis for existing diets or recipes you have created.
  • To update your database manually at any time to take advantage of the new data sources and nutrients/components including food groups:
    1. On the File menu, click Database Properties.
    2. Click Update Database.
